First Flood

After some extremely hot and humid weather during January we experienced our first flood for the season early this month. It was wonderful listening to the steady, heavy rain again after a long dry period. All our recently planted trees coped well with the total inundation and judging by the volume of frog calls we still have a very healthy and varied population of frogs.

Black Bitterns have been enjoying our frogs but unfortunately the birds are not usually visible until they fly up out of the grass. There have been frequent sightings on the Daintree River for the last few months.
